Chatsworth Horse Trials 2011

Our stand at this event is opposite the main arena, so we were able to see some of the show jumping and competitors in the FEI World Cup Eventing, with such well known riders as Zara Phillips and Pippa Funnell.  We couldn’t see any of the dressage which took place in another ring, but we were fortunate enough to witness the awesome talent of Jean Francois Pignon, a French ‘horse whisperer’ demonstrating his control over 4 magnificent greys without the use of sticks, bridles or saddles as they performed complicated manoeuvres to music. Living Crafts Fair 2011 at Hatfield House

What a pleasure it was to attend this friendly, very well organised event, and as an added bonus the sun shone on us every day (despite the wet weather forecast). The Living Crafts Fair has been held at Hatfield for about 30 years, is the largest of its kind in Europe, and is run by Robin Younger and his family. It’s a great day out for all the family with lots to see and buy, and plenty of activities to do for anyone wanting to exercise their creative skills. The feature was focused on the high price of petrol and diesel fuel, at a specific station near Bottesford, where we are based. The price hike has meant we are actually driving an extra 10 miles just to fill up our vehicles. Race Retro 2011

Much of the event takes place within the huge halls where precious, lovingly restored vehicles are on display, with experts on hand eager to discuss the finer points of mechanical and bodywork renovation of their particular pride and joy. Our fleet manager Barry (an ex-biker) took time off from scooter letting to go and ogle the Triumph bikes and came back with lots of photos, especially of his dream machine, the Triumph Bonneville.
